The Embassy of Italy informs that following the publication of the Law 27th November 2020 n.125 in the Official Journal which has converted with amendments the Decree 7th October 2020 n.125, the Italian stay permits expiring between 31st January and 31st December 2020 have been further extended till the end of the declared Covid-19 emergency in Italy (31st of January 2021).

In case of direct flights holders of Italian stay permits expired between 31st January and 31st December 2020 from Dhaka to any Italian destination do not need to apply for a re-entry visa.

In case of indirect flights and to prevent any difficultiy during the stopover in transit countries, holders of Italian stay permits expired between 31st January and 31st December 2020 must still apply for a re-entry visa which will be issued - thanks to such regulation - in maximum 5 working days.

Previous requests of re-entry visas pending at the Embassy of Italy will be issued within 7 working days.

The Prime Minister's Decree dated December 3rd, 2O2O regarding Public Health has eliminated the list F) of annex 20, the countries listed within so far (among also Bangladesh) have been moved to the list E) of annex 20. All short time travel to ltaly from the countries listed in the list E) of annex 20 of the aforesaid Prime Minister's Decree remains forbidden, except for diplomats,
military personnel or family members of EU Nationals.

With immediate effect, long term travel for all foreigners, even if listed in the list E) of annex 20, are allowed for the following reasons with the condition of havinga valid ltalian National Visa:

- Re-entry to ltaly
- Family reunion with Foreign Nationals holding a residence permit
- Study and Research
- Religious reasons
- Medical reasons

Current travel restrictions to Italy from Bangladesh and exceptions

The Embassy of Italy informs that, following the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, issued on 13 October 2020, the ban on entry to Italy for people who have spent the last 14 days in one of the 16 countries – including Bangladesh – in list F of attachment 20 of the above mentioned decree has been lifted only for holders of valid stay permits or of a re-entry visa or of the “Assicurata” (receipt) of Italian Post Office (Poste Italiane) for the request of the renewal of the stay permit and who are resident in Italy before the date of 9 July 2020.

Holders of valid visas for family reunion cannot enter in Italy untill the current travel restrictions will be lifted. Holders of visas for family reunion expired after January 2020 can ask the renewal of their visas by lodging their request at the VFS, outsourcing company of the Embassy of Italy.

Holders of valid stay permits or visas for family who have had children born in Bangladesh during the period of the current restrictions must apply for Nulla Osta (Nihil Obstat) through the competent Sportello Unico (single window) in Italy.

EU citizens and citizens from other Schengen countries, United Kingdom and European microstates residing in Italy and their immediate family members (spouse, children, father and mother) continue to be allowed to enter to Italy.

Diplomats, officials of the EU and other international organizations, military and police personnel, regardless of citizenship, are permitted to enter to Italy.

Anyone, regardless of citizenship, coming from any of the 16 Countries – including Bangladesh – listed in the above mentioned decree must present a negative COVID-19 medical test result when checking-in, taken in the 72 hours prior to the date of entry to Italy.

A quarantine of 14 days must be observed under the surveillance of the competent health Italian authorities. Upon entering Italy public means of transportation cannot be used (except for internal flights and by remaining in the allowed area) to reach the place of residence or where the quarantine will be done.
Travelers must indeed use private means of transportation to reach their place or the premises where the quarantine will be done. Respecting such rules of public health is mandatory.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has stated that any foreign national, apart from Diplomatic, Official and Laissez Passer holders posted in Diplomatic Missions and UN/International Organizations in Bangladesh and their family members, intending to depart for any international destination from Bangladesh shall have to obtain “COVID-19 Test Certificate” from any government approved hospitals/organizations within 72 hours of his/her departure (list of the hospitals enclosed).
However, this directive will not be applicable for any foreign national who will stay in Bangladesh for less than a period of 14 (fourteen) days at a stretch.

The ban on entry to Italy ordered by the Italian Ministry of Health on the 9th of July 2020 regarding citizens of 13 world Countries included Bangladesh has been extended till the 31st of July 2020.

The restriction of movements of passengers coming from Bangladesh does not apply to EU citizens (including citizens from Schengen countries, United Kingdom, and European microstates) residing in Italy and their strict relatives (spouses, kids, partners in life, fathers and mothers) even if they are Bangladesh citizens.

Suspension of scheduled international flight to and from Bangladesh.

To avoid further spread of the COVID-19 beginning 31 March and until 7 April 2020 all scheduled flight from Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mladives, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and UAE are suspended.

Any traveler who lived or visited any EU country or Iran since 1 March 2020 will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh until 15 April 2020. However, nationals of those countries who lived outside of the EU or Iran can travel to Bangladesh as long as they hold a valid visa.

Foreign nationals having valid visas will be required to produce a medical certificate to be obtained within 72 hours of travel, stating he/she does not have any symptoms of COVID-19. The certificate must be handed over at the port of entrance.
