H.E. Ambassador Antonio Alessandro today presented the Letter of Credence to the Head of State of Bangladesh, His Excellency President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
The ceremony took place in the presidential palace "Bangabhaban", with the presence of Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and senior civilian and military dignitaries of the country of accreditation.
During the cordial meeting, Ambassador Alessandro brought President Shahabuddin the greetings of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and expressed his desire to further strengthen relations between the two countries in all fields, which are experiencing a phase of revival after the recent visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Italy.
President Shahabuddin, expressing his best wishes to Ambassador Alessandro for the performance of his mandate, recalled how Italy was one of the first countries to recognize Bangladesh in February 1972 and how our two countries are linked by sentiments of friendship and a common inclination to welcoming people.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Alessandro paid a visit to the Bangabandhu Memorial.
Ambassador Alessandro assumed the role on 7th August and is happy to work with fellow citizens, companies and all interested partners in Italy and Bangladesh to promote relations between the two countries and carry out his task in the best possible way.
