The Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H. E. Amb. Riccardo Guariglia, came to Dhaka on a mission to conduct bilateral political consultations with the Foreign Secretary of Bangladeshi MOFA, H. E.\u00a0Amb. Masud Bin Momen. It is the first visit of an Italian Secretary General to Bangladesh and is also the second session of the bilateral political consultations, after the one that took place in Rome on June 7th 2023 and saw the\u00a0signing of a MoU.<\/p>\n

During the mission the Secretary General was received as a curtesy visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, H. E.\u00a0Muhammad Hasan Mahmud.<\/p>\n

The Parties expressed their desire to strenghten cooperation and to increase exchanges in the trade, cultural, defense and migration sectors.<\/p>\n

The Secretary General additionally met the local\u00a0Italian community as well as the Embassy staff, taking the occasion to inaugurate the new visa office.<\/p>\n

The Directrix for Asia and Oceania of the Italian MFA was also part of the delegation. On June 25th she visited the Rohingya refugees camps in Cox’s Bazar together with UN Agencies.<\/p>\n
