Starting today in Dhaka, with a press presentation, a series of events dedicated to design is being launched, promoted by the Italian Embassy as part of Italian Design Day—an annual initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at sharing experiences and contemporary trends in this field.
The protagonist of the 2026 edition is Italian architect and designer Fabio Novembre, appointed “Ambassador of Italian Design.” Visiting Dhaka from March 30 to April 2, Architect Novembre will lead a week of events centered on the theme: “RE-DESIGN: regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, and relationships.”
The program includes conferences at the Institute of Architects of Bangladesh (IAB) and BRAC University, a creative workshop in collaboration with the local furniture brand ISHO, meetings with local industrial organizations, and visits to Italian design showrooms.
The initiative aims to strengthen commercial, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between Italy and Bangladesh, highlighting the experiences, know-how, and traditions of both countries, with a focus on the future of relations and innovation in the sector.
The program is connected to the Salone del Mobile, a global reference point for design, scheduled to take place in Milan from April 21 to 26, 2026.
“I am happy to represent in Bangladesh the tradition and evolution of Italian design and to contribute, through the many initiatives organized by the Embassy and local partners, to better mutual understanding in the creative industries” (Fabio Novembre, Ambassador of Italian Design in Bangladesh).
“We look at Bangladesh, with its 180 million inhabitants, not only as a competitive manufacturing platform—where we provide machinery and technology for its continuous modernization—but also as a valuable partner for industrial collaboration, as well as a promising market for our exports” (Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of Italy to Dhaka).
