The Embassy of Italy in Dhaka celebrated the 25th edition of Italian Language Week in the World (October 13-19) in collaboration with the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation: three cultural initiatives aimed at promoting the study of the Italian language and shaping an Italian-speaking network in Bangladesh.
On Tuesday, 14 October, Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro and Swiss Ambassador Reto Renggli met at the Italian Residence with students of Italian from the Institute of Modern Languages of the University of Dhaka, led by Professor Stefania Chiapello, together with representatives from the network Italian-speaking Bangladeshi citizens or dual citizens, representatives of the newly formed Italian Chamber of Commerce, and of the religious community in the Country.
On Wednesday, 15 October, at the Gulshan Club theater in Dhaka, took place the screening of the Italian-language film “3/19 – Il Giardino del Re” (The King’s Garden) directed by Silvio Soldini: an Italian-Swiss co-production, very well received by the local and international audience.
A visit by Deputy Head of Mission Federico Zamparelli to the Institute of Modern Languages is also planned, to meet students and participate in an Italian language lesson.
