On the 74th anniversary of the Italian Republic, we proudly remember the historical choice for the Republic with the referendum of 2nd June 1946, just after the end of the Second World War.
The desire for renewal which underpinned that choice is now more relevant than ever. Its symbolic meaning is an appeal to uphold the fundamental values of democracy, freedom and equality which inspire the Italian Constitution.
The values of democracy, rule of law, respect for human rights and a sustainable development are also at the core of the dialogue and the friendly relations between Italy and Bangladesh, partners in progress and development. The recent visit to Italy of the Honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, has confirmed the common willing to further enhance the already strong ties in all possible sectors of cooperation.
Such values must continue to guide and to inspire us to build together a more equal and sustainable future.
